Referrals & Fees

Clients come to Amy for a range of wellbeing concerns. Amy understands that it can be daunting to seek therapy for the first time or to re-commence therapy with a new Psychologist. Amy will take time to explore your concerns and assist you in moving forward with greater confidence in the process.

REFERRALS

Amy receives referrals from GPs, psychiatrists, allied health professionals, and other community organisations.

In addition, individuals are always welcome to call to arrange an appointment without a referral. We will offer advice about your eligibility to receive financial support such as a Medicare rebate.
CONTACT AMY

GP referral through the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative

Prior to your appointment with Amy, you may like to see your GP to assess if you are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). A MHCP entitles you to a Medicare rebate to use for 6 sessions to assist you with payment.

After the initial 6 sessions, you are required to return to your GP for a review, and to gain a further 4 sessions. Please note that you are only eligible for 10 rebated sessions per calendar year.

If your mental health has been impacted by Covid19 you may be eligible for an additional 10 sessions per calendar year (a total of 20 sessions per calendar year).

For us to process your rebate, we require a copy of your MHCP and referral letter from your GP. You can ask your GP to send the referral letter and MHCP directly, you can email us or bring it in with you the day of your appointment.

SELF-REFERRALS

You do not need a referral to book an appointment. If you have private health insurance, you may be entitled to a rebate through your provider. If you choose not to use Medicare or a private health fund you can see Amy without a referral.

Private Health Insurance Fund

Psychology services may be subsidised by your private health insurer if you have a suitable policy with extras cover (please check with your insurance provider). You can use private insurance cover in addition to Medicare rebates but please note that you cannot claim twice for the same service. You do not need a referral from a medical practitioner to qualify for private health insurance rebates.

Fees

Standard session (50 MINUTES)
Please contact Amy Greaves Psychology & Counselling to discuss fees.
With a valid referral, a Medicare rebate of $89.65 is available.

Amy’s fees are below the recommended consultation rate set by the Australian Psychological Society (APS), which is currently $280.

Additional fees apply for report writing, completion of forms, school meetings/observations and extended phone calls. There is no fee charged for correspondence with referrers.

Cancellation policy

When you confirm a session, this time is reserved for you. Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. This will allow the administration enough time to offer your session time to someone who is waiting to see Amy. If you do not give at least 24 hours notice you will be charged a ‘Late Cancellation/Missed Session fee’.

Late cancellation/missed session : $130

Please note that if you do not provide at least 24 hours notice on more than one occasion your ‘Late Cancellation/Missed Session' fee will be charged at the full rate thereafter. For sessions scheduled on a Monday (or in the event of a public holiday) we require notice by midday on the previous business day.
